He is not happy with the way his father is earning money at the cost of environment. Jai has a special power of going into the time when a photo is taken and stays there for a minute to observe what exactly happened over there. His father dies in a mishap and later Jai suspects that it could be a murder. Jai gets hold of a photo taken at that time and goes into the scene several times to see what exactly happened over there. The rest of the story is all about ‘whodunit’.
Actors:
Akshay came out of his star image to do such a different film. He is extremely good. Ayesha Takia is excellent as the girlfriend of Akshay. Girish Karnad and Sharmila Tagore are adequate. Javed Jaffery is hilarious as a paranoid suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder regarding hygiene. Rushad Rana is competent.

Technical departments:
Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film is a typical murder mystery with a vital twist at the end. What makes this film different is the innovative screenplay. If Nagesh Kukunoor’s film Teen Deewarein dealt a screenplay akin to that of Amores Perros, the screenplay of 8x10 Tasweer is inspired by the mother of non-leaner narratives ‘Rashomon’. Like ‘Vantage point’ film where the points of views of nine people were taken to solve a murder mystery, Tasweer film takes the views of four people to find the culprit. Protagonist traveling into the past and looking from various people’s eyes is similar to looking at footages of videos taken from different angles. Like all murder mysteries, Nagesh Kukunoor also makes us suspect all the characters in the film but for the right one. Nagesh does a good job in screenplay and a bad job in directing the film. He could not get the grip in the latter part of the film second half where the secret is revealed. Though this film is supposed to be a supernatural thriller, it defies the following logics –
1. If the photo is burnt while protagonist visits past, he would be locked over there. But he comes out in this film. Protagonist injecting himself after completion of one minute is shown, but the logic is not clearly explained.
2. Protagonist is shown going after the suspect even when his girl friend and mother were in a critical position.Other technical departments: The execution of this film is in Hollywood style. The cinematography and background music are of top notch quality. The only SONGS in the film is uncalled for. Dialogues are crisp and effective (especially the ones written for Happy with an I). Editing is adequate.
Analysis: 8x10 Tasveer is a typical ‘whodunit’ film with an interesting screenplay we generally see in Hollywood FILMS. movie starts with a kid looking frighteningly at a ball at the edge of a hill. And the same scene is replayed at the end explaining it. The plus points of the film are story and screenplay. The negative points are non-so-gripping narration, slow pace and lack of tempo. If you are academically interested in screenplay techniques, you may watch the film. Others might have to think twice before watching it.

SA Raj Kumar

Story
A gang of snake skin poachers kill a male snake during the time of holy dance to snatch a powerful diamond from it. The female snake (Mumaith Khan) sets out to take revenge on them. But it is constrained due to certain rules. Hence it has to take form of a woman with certain qualifications. That woman turns out to be a model (Mumaith Khan) who is also a daughter of a sincere police officer. The rest of the story is all about how female snake takes revenge on the snake poachers.
Artists Performance
Mumaith Khan is adequate as a model who is possessed by a female snake. Rajiv Kanakala is alright as the male lead. Suhasini is good as the dumb girl. MS Narayana is ineffective. Vinod Kumar did the role of one of the poachers. Srinivas Reddy is adequate. Nalini is loud as the witch.
Technical departments
Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film has potential in it. But an uninteresting screenplay coupled by archaic direction makes this film unappealing. There are good commercial elements in the movie. But director could not capitalize on those aspects. However, there are still some elements that might cater to the masses of B and C centers.
Other departments: Music by SA Raj Kumar is mediocre. The remix of Ragulutundi Mogali Poda is good. Dialogues are ordinary. Cinematography is average. Visual effects don’t impress.
Analysis: Punnami Nagu is about a snake’s revenge as the title suggests. It is for the people who still want to see bhakti cinemas made on snakes. If you have such frame of mind and orientation, you may watch it. Otherwise, the entire concept, treatment and orientation might not go well with the movie lovers of contemporary cinema.

Aakasamantha Telugu Movies
Punchline: letting one's daughter go
Genre: Family DRAMA
Type: Dubbed (Abhiyum Naanum - Tamil)
Banner: Sri Venkateswara Films
Cast: Prakash Raj, Trisha, Jagapati Babu, Ganesh Venkatraman, Aishwarya etc
Music : Vidya SagarCinematography: Preetha
Editing: Marthand k Venkatesh
Story - screenplay - direction: Radha Mohan
Producer: Dil Raju
Release date: 27 March 2009
Story
Raghuram (Prakash Raj) owns a tea estate in Coimbatore. He married Anu (Aishwarya) – love of his life. Their daughter is Abhi. It is a lovable family with absolutely no problems. Raghuram is excessively fond of his cute daughter. He tries to guide her in every small step she takes by being with her. She finds her father to be overbearing as she grows up and she expects her father to let her go in order to find her ground in the real life. In the process she falls in love with a guy when she is sent to New Delhi to pursue MBA. The rest of the story is how Raghuram takes it when Abhi gets her beau to his house.
Artists Performance
Prakash Raj: Since entire film is told in a narrative pattern from Prakash Raj point of view, you will get to see Prakash Raj in 90% of the movie. He is an absolute delight to watch as a father. He balanced his comic timing with longing for his only daughter with unlimited ease. His body language during interview at school reminds us a bit of Mr. Bean’s.
Other actors: Three girls acted for the role of daughter at various growth levels. And all three girls look similar. The choice of these girls is perfect. Trisha and other two girls are cute. Trisha did extremely well in emotional scenes of second half. Ganesh Venkatraman is very good as Trisha’s beau. Aishwarya is demure as a lovable housewife. The guy who did the role of servant is commendable. Jagapati Babu did the role of a guy who listens to the memories of Prakash Raj in a park.
Technical departments
Story - screenplay - direction: The time-frame of the story is around 25 years. The life story of a just born girl is shown till she graduates and finds her fiancĂ©e. The entire story is narrated in spaced flashback format where Prakash Raj narrates the story of his daughter to a stranger in a park. You can see certain similarities to the ‘Father of Bride’ character (Nuvve Nuvve in Telugu) in the second half. It is a difficult task to narrate a single thread of relationship between a father and a daughter. Director Radha Mohan comes up with a convincing screenplay to pull it off. Radha Mohan excels in showing sentiment scenes and a light humor episodes (especially Prakash Raj preparing for his daughter’s pre-KG interview). However, the pace goes down in the second half of the film. And the characterization of Prakash Raj character gets little confusing in the end as he keeps dillydallying about his future son-in-law.
Other departments: Music of the film is average. Cinematography is excellent. The cinematographer captures the lush greenery around tea estates very well. Dialogues are sprinkled with humor and sentiment (Abburi Ravi seem to have penned few of the dialogues). Editing is adequate.
Analysis: First half of the film is entertaining. Second half is bit slow and becomes little repetitive towards the end. Akasamantha is all about letting one’s daughter go. It is about the mental turmoil and confusion an over-possessive father goes through whenever her daughter takes the first step towards a new direction. The plus points of the film are Prakash Raj performance, entertaining first half and noble intention of making a clean film. On the flip side, the second half becomes overbearing. Producer Dil Raju should be appreciated for betting his money on a subject that lacks regular commercial elements and screenplay payoffs. On a whole, Aakasamantha is a different film made on relationships and has ingredients that appeal to the family crowds in A centers.

Krishna Murthy keeps it as a secret and brings Billa’s lookalike Ranga – a petty thief onto the scene. The rest of the story is all about how Ranga completes the job for Krishna Murthy.
Artists Performance
Prabhas: Prabhas is extremely stylish with well toned and highly muscular body in the role of the don. The blazers suited him really well. His second role as Ranga entertains us with the dialogue delivery he popularized with Bujjigadu film. His steps in Bommari Bommali songs are good. Billa 2009 ( hindi don ) tamil billaOthers: Anushka is good with slim figure and she is extremely glamorous in revealing dresses. She has no significant role to play in this film. Hansika Motwani did a special role and she is good. Namitha entered in to Telugu Film Industries again with Billa. She is sexy and dubbed her own voice in Telugu. Krishnam Raju is adequate as the cop. Supreet is stylish. Kelly Dorji’s role is an extension of the one he donned in Nagarjuna’s Don. Rehman is competent in a vital role. Ali did a short, yet significant role. Jayasudha did a small, but nice role. Prabhas, anushka, hansika mutwani
Technical departments
Story - screenplay - direction: Billa’s story is based on Don film penned by Javed Akhtar. Screenplay of the film is adequate in the first half and is little disappointing in the second half. Director concentrated more on the styling in the first half. Direction of the film is adequate. Though it is a 30 year old story, the director should have done modifications to it to make it more logical and convincing. The twists towards climax lack logic. The kids thread should have been extended into second half. It has tremendous potential with nice sentimental value. The following scenes are good in the film –
1. The scene of Billa escaping by using Hansika.
2. The chase on Malaysian roads. It’s fun to see Malaysian police cars flying around instead of usual Sumo cars in a Telugu cinema.
3. The introduction and training episodes of Ranga character are hilarious.
Other departments: Music and background score by Mani Sharma is average. Bommali song is the best in picturization aspect. Cinematography by Soundar Rajan is pretty good. Dialogues are adequate. The serious dialogues written for Prabhas in the first half (Can Can and other English dialogues) are not effective enough. Fights done by Stun Siva are efficient and stylish (especially superb chase sequence). Editing is alright. Production values by Gopi Krishna Movies are excellent. The entire movie is mounted on a grand scale.
Analysis: First half of the film is alright. Second half is little disappointing and is prolonged. The plus points of the film are Prabhas’s makeover and styling as Billa and good production values. On the flip side, the second half should have been effectively handled. Prabhas has terrific Comedy timing in him (Bujjigadu film and pre-interval episode in Billa). Hope somebody would make the best use of it the future. We have to wait and see how audiences take Billa. Prabhas, Anushka, Namitha, Hamsika mutwani
